Candaceis managing
partner of H&H Associates, a consulting firm conceived in 2007. Candace’s
educational background is in history, with a B.A. in History from Loyola
University Chicago in 1997 and a M.A. in Public History from Indiana
University’s Indianapolis’ campus (IUPUI) in 2005. Her Master’s thesis topic,
entitled ‘Fearless Rest and Hopeful
Work’: A History of the Arts and Crafts Movement in Indianapolis, 1890-1920,
argued the small but significant presence of Arts and Crafts-proponents in the
city, and their accomplishments in art, education, and architecture.
An academically-trained historian,
Candace is adept at performing primary research utilizing historical documents
by accessing various repositories, including written, oral, and image
collections. Additionally, Candace enjoys processing her findings into a
coherent and interesting narrative, whether intended for an academic or more
general audience. She brings a broad knowledge of history, especially American
social history and Indiana history. Local history is her passion.
Candace’s work experience also includes
training in the methods and applications of historic preservation. She has
handled fund-raising events, press releases and media tasks, grant writing and
grant account reporting, historic house research, researching and writing
brochures, and creating a student workbook on Indianapolis architecture that
met a variety of Indiana’s educational standards.
Candace was born in northeast Indiana
and has lived in the Indianapolis area since 1998. She enjoys reading, spending
time with her family, and traveling in her spare time. She and her husband have
one son and are currently in the process of restoring their 1894 Free
Classic-style house in Greenfield.
